Black Violet Tarot deck and guidebook by Heidi Phelps

The Black Violet Tarot is perfect for creative artists and feminine spirituality practitioners seeking inspiration for art, self-expression, and navigating life's bittersweet dualities through beautiful tarot guidance. This 80-card deck features exquisite Art Nouveau-style artwork that honors the symbolic contrast of violets representing both life and death, joy and grief, beginnings and endings, designed to spark creative inspiration while helping you reflect on all aspects of life. Whether you're contemplating what is and dreaming about what could be for your creative endeavors, tapping into your artistic voice through tarot reflection, or seeking guidance that honors both joyful and painful life experiences, this deck is ideal for creative inspiration sessions, artistic development, and finding light in times of darkness through feminine-led spiritual guidance.

A women-led take on Rider-Waite-Smith

The structure follows Rider-Waite-Smith, so if you already read RWS, you can pick this up and go. The figures and framing are reimagined from a woman-centered perspective. Phelps cites Edward Gorey, Victorian mourning dress and memento mori, vintage sewing patterns, Grimm's fairy tales, Toulouse-Lautrec, and Frida Kahlo among her influences, and you can see all of it in the linework.
